An Appeal to The Prime Minister: Please Protect Our Young Working Women

Let me say at the outset that I fully support the Prime Minister's efforts to give the nation's children "a fighting chance" against the effects of marijuana, alcohol and gambling. I am happy to see that her love for the nation's youth does not stop when they attain the age of 18 and that her legislation is intended to protect them from destructive vices well into young adulthood.

Independent Senators Must Hit Back and Hit Back Harder

I am beginning to lose respect for the independent senators, and for one reason only: their failure to appropriately respond to the Prime Minister's barrage of abuse against them. It makes me wonder if they are really "eat ah food" senators, so "hungry for ah senate wuk" that ...

Panday, Bharath criticise PM’s Republic Day message.

Reading Vasant Bharath's and Mickela Panday's criticisms of the PM’s Republic Day message, I cannot help but wonder if anyone is truly surprised by either the tone or content of that message? People need to accept the unfortunate reality of Trinidad and Tobago's position today, and the fact that many were duped into voting for the mockery that is being offered as leadership.

Low Class Governance by a Low Class Government Led By a Low Class Prime Minister

The Prime Minister is on public record as labeling independent senators, opposition parliamentarians, and various attorneys by highly disrespectful and derrogatory terms. In numerous public statements, she has openly branded senators as 'bribe-solicitors', satanic, Satan's helpers, demons, scumbags, boot lickers and brown-nosers”....

The Prime Minister's Misrepresentations

The tendency to misrepresent the facts of a matter is something we have grown accustomed to with this Prime Minister. Not too long ago, her well publicized claim that Caricom had abandoned Trinidad by siding with Venezuela stunned both regional and international observers because of its absolute distance from the facts of the situation.

"The Stinking Racist Jamette Coolie Prime Minister."

Many citizens across Trinidad and Tobago have taken deep offense to the Prime Minister's repeated reference to herself as a "Stinking Racist Jamette Coolie Prime Minister."[SRJC]. From political commentators to regular folks on social media, the shocking self-labeling has caused quite a stir in our national discourse. But over here at the Common Sense Bench, we take the view that ...

Kamla and the UNC Limbo Dance. How Low Can She Go?

The Prime Minister's recent declaration that she will authorize special operations only in the 26 UNC-held constituencies, 70 UNC-held local government electoral districts, and the two TPP-held constituencies in Tobago is a nakedly partisan betrayal of national unity ...

Is Kamla Persad-Bissessar Reviving the 1980s Proposed "Indesh" Partition?

I vividly remember as a young man in the early 1980s, my Indo-centric peers trying to recruit me, handing out literature from the Indian Revival and Reform Association (IRRA) - an organization founded by a then young Suruj Rambachan. Inside those pamphlets was a fringe, deeply disturbing, and radical proposal:...

The Misleading Trinidad Guardian "Fake Cops" Headline

Is the Trinidad Guardian covering for criminal cops? Why then today's headline: "Fake cops ambush, kill St Ann's man" when there is nothing in the story itself to support the headline that the attackers were civilians impersonating police officers?

The Special Operations Bill: Why I’d Rather a Bandit State Over a Police State.

Wayne Sturge recently threw out a provocative question to critics of the Special Operations Bill: "Do you rather a police state or a bandit state?" Unhesitatingly, I say, and on my behalf alone, an unequivocal yes. Bring on the Bandit State ...

Testing a Pro-Child Brand Against Its Own Words

The Prime Minister has built a powerful public brand around maternal care and love for children. But when that brand is tested against her own public statements what emerges is not consistent with motherly love ...

Beckles: "National Interest Before Political Expediency"

When I read Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles' call to the Prime Minister for the national interest to be placed before political expediency, I immediately said to myself, "that and God’s face we will never see." In fact, I believe we would sooner see the face of God than see the UNC - whether in Government or Opposition - place the national interest above narrow political gain. ...

"Kill Them All Violently" , She Urged. But She Loves Children.

“Kill Them All Violently” was Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s explicit exhortation to the U.S. military on September 2nd, 2025, endorsing their first missile strike on vessels in the Caribbean. Just weeks later, on October 14, 2025, a subsequent strike in international waters between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago resulted in the extrajudicial killing of Trinidadian fishermen Chad Joseph and Rishi Samaroo....

A Welcome Absence and Necessary Reprieve

Who the hell cares whether the top cop was granted or not granted permission to leave the jurisdiction? What's the fuss about? We should be grateful for whatever reprieve from his leadership, his absence has given us, however temporary. The concern is misguided and missing the real point. Frankly, this temporary break from his 'leadership'...

The Costs of Trump Sycophancy & Burning Bridges with U.S. Democrats

In 1848, British statesman Lord Palmerston famously noted, “Nations have no eternal allies and no perpetual enemies, only eternal interests.” Clearly, the wisdom of that maxim is entirely lost on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who seems to believe that a mixture of adolescent political infatuation, gratuitous praise and grovelling sycophancy toward Donald Trump will automatically make a UNC-governed Trinidad and Tobago an eternal ally of the US.

Black Faces In UNC Cabinet

PART 2 - Continued From Part 1.

As recently as 2007–2010, just prior to the exit of the Manning administration, the UNC publicly objected to HDC housing projects being built in East Indian areas. They feared it would bring urban, lower-income and predominantly black "outsiders" – who made up the bulk of the HDC applicant database – into rural Indo-Trinidadian communities. The UNC warned that those "outsiders" [Black People] would dilute the local culture, social structure and traditional lifestyle of Indians.

Black Faces In UNC Cabinet

Part 1

If Black People in Trinidad and Tobago have not yet awakened to the reality that they were duped - by a handful of semi literate 'Uncle Tom's, masquerading as social media influencers - into voting the UNC into government, they deserve to spend the rest of their lives treated as second-class citizens under the very administration they put in power.

Star Sabga's Comments & MakIng "Raai ka Pahar"
(a Mountain out of a Molehill)

Kamla’s Crocodile Tears

--Is hypocrisy innate or acquired? That question arises whenever Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar chooses to speak on controversial matters. The minute her lips part, the blatant, self-serving hypocrisy jumps out and slaps you in the face.

By Her Own Words: The Self-Indictment of Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago

PM defends phone taps; says, "The only persons who are worried are those who are involved in criminal activity and those suffering from derangement and paranoia." Trinidad Guardian

By her own words and definition, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has painted herself as a deranged and paranoid criminal. In dismissing public concerns over state wiretapping as the mere anxieties of criminals and the mentally unstable, she has condemned herself by her own rhetoric.

The Square Peg in the Cabinet: Why Does Kamla Persad-Bissessar Refuse to Fire This Minister?

We all know the dilemma of the square peg in the round hole. In a workshop, a joiner shaves the wood to force a fit. On a construction site, a carpenter simply discards the useless piece and reaches for a tool that works. Efficiency, not sentimentality, is the goal. In politics, the remedy should be just as swift: An underperforming minister should either be retrained, reassigned, or fired.
